Jul 29, 2010

Surprise, surprise! I just adored Holiday and Mohan's photo so much yesterday that I had to ask to play 'show and tell' some more! Enjoy:

Return the Love: Holiday + Mohan

Jul 28, 2010

July is CB's Return the Love month. Each day I am sharing a favorite photo{s} sent in by a reader of his/her wedding day {or engagement shoot}. It's my way of turning the table to shine the spotlight on those who have made CB the success that it is today. Cheers!

Oh, the gritty red truck ... the bleak industrial building ... the red balloon ... don't they all just go together harmoniously? I. LOVE.

Holiday and Mohan's engagement session was shot in Williamsburg and later in the day they ventured over to Coney Island and Chinatown in NYC. Doesn't that sound like fun?

And they are planning a two-day Indian wedding in Florida (where Mohan's parents live) this November. So exciting! Congrats to both of you!

Congrats again, Jacki and Keith!

From reader Jacki:
[Our engagement photos] were taken by my 18 year old brother, Trevor Campbell. Our photos came out so beautiful and better than I had ever expected! He is attending school this fall for photography. The photos were taken in Oyster Bay, NY, the hometown of my fiancĂ© and Huntington, NY, my hometown and where we met. We chose these locations because they both mean so much to us and remind us of our childhood memories. There is a great mixture of different sceneries within short proximity of each other and we wanted the photos to reflect a variety of moods, settings, etc.

What a beautiful photo, Jacki {great job, Trevor!}! Congrats to you and Keith!

Return the Love: Kim + Eric

When Scott Lawrence sent me this fun shoot he recently did with fellow photographer Taryn Kent, I knew I'd have to share more than one photo ... scroll down for the eye candy and for the background and details on the shoot! Aren't Kim and Eric just the most radiant couple?

From reader/photographer Scott:
I shoot with my good friend, Taryn, and we love unique fun vintage styled ideas which brings me to this engagement shoot. This couple is getting married at Botanica's studio in San Diego on New Years Eve and wanted to do something interesting in their New Years attire mixed with some different unique settings. So we rented an old vintage couch here in downtown San Diego and drove it around all day with a few ideas in mind.

Isn't that so awesome that you can rent a couch for a shoot like this? Scott told me the place they found the couch is "a really neat little antiques store. They rent out some of their favorite pieces for events, plays, and photo shoots. The shop is called Cottage Antiques [in San Diego and the number is] 619.222.1967."

Eric and Katie wed on June 19, 2009 in Orland Park, Illinois, and decided to make an impromptu visit to an old-fashioned ice cream parlor before their ceremony! How sweet is that?! You can see more photos of the fun here {on Katie's blog}.

And a little CB love from Katie (o; :
I have been reading Classic Bride since December of 2008 after I got engaged and was inspired immensely by your blog (particularly in my use of green hydrangeas in the decor, and wearing a really classic wedding dress and veil style.) Thank you for this opportunity to be featured, and congratulations on your exciting upcoming move!

Thanks, Katie, and congratulations to you! :o)

I came across these lovely photos while I was doing research for another post and I couldn't get over those fabulous swim caps! Aren't they incredible?

Wouldn't it be fun to do a little vintage-inspired poolside shoot with your bridesmaids during the weeks leading up to your wedding?

Return the Love: Sweet Emilia Jane's e-shoot

Jul 17, 2010

July is CB's Return the Love month. Each day I am sharing a favorite photo{s} sent in by a reader of his/her wedding day {or engagement shoot}. It's my way of turning the table to shine the spotlight on those who have made CB the success that it is today. Cheers!

{Side note: I found Emilia Jane's amaaaaazing blog through a comment she left on Classic Bride [yes, I do sometimes click on the links you leave!! (o; ] and was blown away by the fabulous inspiration shoots she has styled - you can check them out here and here! So, after falling in love with her work, I had to urge her to submit some photos to CB's Return the Love series!}

Here's what Emilia Jane had to say:
Ok, we're getting married on July 3rd so I don't have my favorite wedding day photo. I do have some fabulous photos from our INCREDIBLE wedding photographers - Davina plus Daniel! Man, it was REALLY hard to pick just one of these. I have a lot of favorites all for different reasons. I had to pick the one where we couldn't keep a straight face because that is totally us. We are always goofing around and making each other giggle. Poor Davina and Daniel had a hard time getting us to be serious.

Aren't they adorable?! Naturally, I had to ask to see more from their shoot so Emilia sent over lots more to share ... {yay!} They took photos in their house {how awesomely comfy and fun is that? I love it!} and while walking to their favorite restaurant - Ritual - in their San Diego neighborhood. Let's take a look ...

Love, love, love! Thanks so much for sharing, Emilia! And best wishes for a beautiful wedding day and future together! xox.

Return the Love: Emily + Ed

Jul 15, 2010

July is CB's Return the Love month. Each day I am sharing a favorite photo{s} sent in by a reader of his/her wedding day {or engagement shoot}. It's my way of turning the table to shine the spotlight on those who have made CB the success that it is today. Cheers!

Emily {who takes amazing photos herself - check out her site, Emily takes Photos} and Ed are getting married June 27, 2010 at the Monday Club in San Luis Obispo, Ca. The photo above is from their engagement shoot.

From reader Emily:
Ed and I are both lindy hoppers and have a few vintage pieces we've collected over the years for dancing. When we did our engagement shoot, we wanted at least one set of images to reflect that, so we got dressed up, dragged our vintage suitcases (the red one was my Mum's) and headed off to the train station in SLO.

So lovely! Congratulations to you both!

Return the Love, double-dip: Ella + Alexander

Jul 14, 2010

Today's another double-dip day! Enjoy:

From reader Ella:
My name is Ella and I am marrying Alexander [on] September 4, 2010, in Westchester, NY. We live in Chicago, which is where this photograph was taken (in Grant Park with the Chicago skyline in the background).

I am sure many brides say this, but I truly love Classic Bride. I usually check it on a daily basis, which is challenging given that I am pretty busy with work and wedding planning. I loved the fun colors in a lot of the engagement shoots you feature, which inspired me to try to come up with a colorful wardrobe and location for our engagement shoot. Thanks for the inspiration!

Awww, thanks for the love, Ella! Your engagement photo is so full of life - I just love it! Congrats to you both!

Return the Love: Meaghan + JD

Jul 13, 2010

July is CB's Return the Love month. Each day I am sharing a favorite photo{s} sent in by a reader of his/her wedding day {or engagement shoot}. It's my way of turning the table to shine the spotlight on those who have made CB the success that it is today. Cheers!

Meaghan and JD's photographer, Jennifer Weems, edited their engagement photos to create the image above - which they used as their Save the Date! How cute is that?

From reader Meaghan:
We took the pictures in downtown Phoenix. We are holding vintage-inspired baseball pennants that I made in our wedding colors. My fiance, JD, loves baseball so we are having a classic, baseball theme [with] our wedding so it was the perfect way to set the tone!

And if you're totally loving the idea, you can check out Meaghan's own directions on how she created the pennants here.

Thanks for sharing, Meaghan, and congrats to both of you!

Return the Love: Brittany + Bryan

Jul 12, 2010

July is CB's Return the Love month. Each day I am sharing a favorite photo{s} sent in by a reader of his/her wedding day {or engagement shoot}. It's my way of turning the table to shine the spotlight on those who have made CB the success that it is today. Cheers!

I love how fearless Brittany and Bryan were with choosing backdrops for their engagement photos - so fun!

From reader Brittany:
With our upcoming wedding at Toronto's Distillery District, we knew we wanted our engagement photos to have the same kind of modern glam feel that we are creating for our wedding. There is nothing like taking a raw space and making it beautiful.

Our extremely talented photographer understood exactly what we wanted, fun and unique with a touch of glamour. Our photos were taken a few months after the Canadian winter had melted away, needless to say it was still freezing cold so to warm up we sipped coffee and Baileys and jumped in a warm car between shoots, it was such a memorable day. The photo shoot was just outside of Ottawa Ontario in a small town called Kemptville. We drove to our destination not knowing the amazing locations she had found. As we arrived at our first location, we walked through the woods; when I say walked I was over Bryan's shoulder so I wouldn't wreck my heels! [Featured above] was a old bus that was found in the middle of a clear cutting (one of my favourite spots) [and] a tree lined path. With each outfit change, piles of accessories, and even our dog Brooklyn in tow we knew as Kaja snapped each photo we would always remember that day and cherish the photos forever.

Thanks so much for sharing, Brittany! Your photos are just lovely and congratulations on your upcoming wedding! xo.

A Sunday kind of Love, No. 45

I wish I could say our Sunday is going as leisurely and lovely as Ewan and Natalia's photoshoot {above} but instead, we're getting ready for the movers to arrive tomorrow morning and be our new house guests for the next two days! Ahh! Only 10 days 'til we're in Europe! So exciting yet so much to do!

Hope you're having a happy Sunday! Return the Love will be back tomorrow - see you then!
